Okotoks' location in the middle of one of Alberta's finest recreation areas has established it as an outdoor place. The Town also serves as a gateway to the foothills and Kananaskis country. The Okotoks Flight Centre has established an enviable reputation for its flying lessons. Nearby is the Okotoks Bird Sanctuary, a refuge for prairie waterfowl.
